This option allows you to assign managers to user groups in the Settings section.
The leader assigned to the group is a functional one.
The supervisor listed by mail (in the employee's card) is direct.
The "My Team" section will be available to the user if he is the leader of at least one group, regardless of whether the "User is the leader" checkbox is marked in his profile.
To appoint managers:
Go to the "Settings" section > Hover the cursor over the group you selected (it can be either the root or the subgroup below) > When you click on the pencil, a card for editing is displayed > go to the "Management" tab > Select managers with checkboxes. You can search for managers by FI, email, phone or login. > Select button > Save button

Now the number of managers is displayed opposite the root group (If only 1 leader is assigned to the group, his full name is displayed)
Clicking on the text with the number of managers opens the group settings on the "Managers" tab.

How managers see the "My Team" section in the app:
When you first log into the "My Team" section, the functional manager sees a page with a group selection, and the team data will not load until he selects one of the teams.

The supervisor selects a team and can view their results.

How can a manager change a team in the filter settings:
Select the "Selected Team" button. Clicking on it opens a window with a group selection. > Specify the group. If the group does not contain nesting, the data of this command is immediately displayed. If the group has a nesting, the leader can move to the underlying subgroups. > After selecting a command, all the data in the tabs will display its results.

The last selected group is saved, and the next time you log in to the module, it will be loaded automatically. But after re-authorization, the selection is reset.
If the user is both functional and a direct supervisor, the direct team will be displayed at the end of the list. The Managers section is missing from the functional team. Executive users are displayed as regular subordinates.
The device search works within the selected command.
Important.
What doesn't change:
Rating (team):
Works without changes. Displays data only for the direct supervisor.
Employee profile:
The direct supervisor is displayed (by email).
Training:
The ability to rewind videos is available only from direct supervisors.
Command messages:
Available only to direct managers.
Main:
"My Team" widget: displays only direct subordinates (when you click on the module, it transfers to the direct team, despite the previously saved filters).
Favorites widget: You can only add users from a direct team.
Cases of appointment of functional managers
No. 1. A new employee joined the company, or the current one moved to another department. You must specify the current supervisor.
How it is implemented now:
It is necessary to find out who should be the employee's supervisor, find the supervisor's email address and add it to the "supervisor's email" field (to the user).
How is this implemented with functional managers:
In the department group settings, the administrator sets who should be the head of the department once. As soon as an employee gets into this group for any reason, he automatically appears in the team of this manager, without the need to perform additional actions.
----
No. 2. The company has a new employee who should be the head of a certain group of users.
How it is implemented now:
You need to find out who should be the supervisor's subordinate and add the supervisor's email address to his entire team in the "supervisor's email" field.
How is this implemented with functional managers:
In the group settings of the required department, the administrator determines that the specified employee must be the head of this group. Immediately after that, the manager sees the "My team" section, where all the users of this group are located.
----
No. 3. The company has a higher-ranking leader who should see the results of several subordinate teams.
How it is implemented now:
The specified employee is installed as the head of the users, who in turn are also the heads of their teams. In my team, such users are displayed in a separate "managers" block, by clicking on which you can join their team.
How is this implemented with functional managers:
In the group settings at the appropriate hierarchy level, the administrator determines that the specified employee must be the head of this group. This manager sees the "My team" section, where all the users of this group are located, and also has the opportunity to view team statistics lower in the hierarchy of groups.
----
No. 4. A group of employees with several equivalent supervisors.
How it is implemented now:
The administrator assigns one of these managers to a group of employees as a supervisor, building a chain of command for the other managers. To view the team's results, managers will have to perform additional actions to move down the hierarchy (to the desired team).
How is this implemented with functional managers:
In the settings of the specified group, the administrator sets all the managers for this group, and they all have the same rights.
----
No. 5. The team leader goes on vacation or sick leave, and another employee must replace him during his absence.
How it is implemented now:
The administrator finds the email address of the substitute supervisor and sets it in the "supervisor's email" field for the absent one. But if the company has a long chain of command hierarchy, you will have to make a choice - either accept that it will be incorrect during the absence of the head, or spend time changing the chain of command.
After the main supervisor leaves, depending on the decision made, either change the value in the supervisor's email field to the previous value for the absent supervisor, or change the chain of command back.
How is this implemented with functional managers:
In the group settings of the required department, the administrator installs another supervisor. Now the substitute manager sees the "My team" section.
After the main leader leaves, it is enough to remove the replacement leader from the list of group leaders.
----
No. 6. An employee must have a personal mentor to monitor their training and onboarding.
How it is implemented now:
An employee can have only one supervisor, so if the company wants to use both department teams and mentors, you will have to choose.
If an employee's mentor's email address is indicated in the "supervisor's email" field, the head of the department will not see him in his team.
How is this implemented with functional managers:
"Shared" commands can be implemented based on groups, and thus free up the "supervisor's email" field in order to add the mentor's email there. The head of the department will see the employee's results because he belongs to the right group, and the mentor will see them because he is listed as a direct supervisor through the supervisor's email field.
However, you can still enter only one email address in the supervisor's email field, so an employee can have only one personal mentor.
----
No. 7. The company has trainers who train and onboard beginners. They should be able to see the results of such employees in my team, check their assignments and give out awards.
How it is implemented now:
During onboarding and adaptation, employees are provided with the coach's email address in the "supervisor's email" field. But an employee can only have one supervisor, so if the company wants to use department teams and coaches for newcomers, they will have to choose. Accordingly, if the coach's email address is indicated in the "supervisor's email" field, the head of the department will not see this employee in his team.
How is this implemented with functional managers:
There are different ways to solve this.:
- Create a "work experience" tree and place all newcomers in the "Up to 3 months" group. Set up a supervisor for her, and he will see the results of all newcomers.
- If different managers are involved in training newcomers to different positions, then lower down the hierarchy for the "Up to 3 months" group, you can create subgroups of these positions and assign them managers.
- If the onboarding process is monitored more locally, then it is possible to create subgroups for newcomers in existing groups according to the necessary criteria (based on the organizational structure or region) and install their leaders.
